Irritated by her mom's constant rules, Sharon jumps at the chance to visit her dad in Miami where he's playing a gig. She assumes that life with Richard will be way more freewheeling and fun than what she is experiencing at home. Flirting with the idea of living with her dad permanently, Sharon does everything she can to fit in to her dad's lifestyle. When she gets drunk in an attempt to impress her dad's friends, Sharon quickly learns that her father's not as permissive as she thought he was.
Sharon: You know something? Lately I've been wondering what it would be like to live with my dad.
Maria looks scared, then glances at the movie Adam is watching. A nuclear warhead detonates.
Maria (about Richard): We've been waiting 15 minutes. Are you sure he's coming?
Sharon: You know he's always late.
Adam: I gave up getting him watches for his birthday. He kept losing them.
Sharon: What's the use in having divorced parents if they gang up on me?
